Sextant is a product of a two month email correspondence between Ed Compson and Jesse Rivers about future facing paintings and paintings as diagrams, graphs and schematics. The conversation evolved into how we navigate between ideas of past and contemporary futures, between content and structure within paintings and how things become visible through the movement between bodies, ideas and artwork. The result is a combination of current works from the two artists as a way of moving forward.
